These terms govern your use of StarOne. They describe what StarOne does, what it does not do, and what each of us is responsible for. Please read them — particularly the section on deliveries, because StarOne is not a party to them.
1. Who these terms are between
"StarOne", "we" and "us" mean the operator of gostarone.com and the StarOne customer and driver applications. "You" means the person using the platform, whether as a customer or as a driver. By creating an account or using the platform you agree to these terms.
2. What StarOne is
StarOne is a technology platform that connects customers with independent delivery drivers. It is not a delivery company.
We verify drivers, list the ones near you, and keep the record of each order. We do not employ drivers, we do not direct their work, we do not set the price of a delivery beyond publishing the rate drivers work to, and we do not carry goods.
3. Deliveries are between you and your driver
This is the most important thing on this page. A delivery is a contract between the customer and the driver. StarOne is not a party to it.
- Payment for deliveries is arranged and made directly between customer and driver. StarOne does not process it, hold it, or take any share of it.
- The published rate is $1 per kilometre with a $7 minimum under 5 km. This is the rate drivers work to, not a price StarOne charges or guarantees.
- If a delivery goes wrong, we can mediate and we can act on a driver's listing. We cannot refund a delivery, because we never held the money.
4. Your account
- You must be at least 18 to hold an account.
- The information you give us must be accurate, and you must keep it current.
- Your account is yours alone. Do not share access to it.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account.
5. Drivers
If you use StarOne as a driver, you additionally agree that:
- You are an independent contractor. Nothing here creates employment, partnership or agency between you and StarOne.
- You hold a valid licence, current insurance appropriate to commercial delivery, and any permit your municipality requires. Confirming this is your responsibility, not ours.
- The documents you upload are genuine and current. Uploading a false document ends your account.
- You are responsible for your own taxes, including GST/HST registration where your revenue requires it.
- A subscription is required to appear in customer listings. It renews until cancelled, and lapsing removes you from listings without affecting your account or history.
6. What you may not do
- Use StarOne to carry anything illegal, dangerous, stolen, or prohibited from transport — including controlled substances, firearms, explosives and live animals.
- Harass, threaten or discriminate against anybody on the platform.
- Post a rating or review you did not earn through a completed order, or offer anything in exchange for one.
- Attempt to access another person's account or data, probe our systems, or interfere with the service.
- Scrape, resell or redistribute platform content, including driver listings.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches this section, and where a breach is also a crime we will report it.
7. Subscriptions and billing
Driver subscriptions are charged by StarOne through Stripe. Card details are entered directly with Stripe and never stored on our servers. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you may cancel at any time from your account — you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Applicable GST/HST and provincial tax is shown on every invoice.
Fees paid for a period already begun are not refundable except where Canadian consumer protection law requires it.
8. Ratings and content
Ratings may be left only by a customer who completed an order with that driver. You keep ownership of what you write, and you grant StarOne a licence to display it on the platform. We may hide a review that breaches section 6, but we do not remove a lawful and honest review on request.
9. Availability
We aim to keep StarOne running but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or withdraw features, and we will give notice where a change materially affects you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, StarOne is not liable for loss, damage, injury or loss of goods arising from a delivery, since deliveries are performed by independent drivers under a contract to which StarOne is not a party. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the platform is limited to the amount you have paid StarOne in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under Canadian consumer protection legislation that applies to you.
11. Ending your account
You may close your account at any time from Account settings. Your personal information is anonymised after a short grace period, as described in our privacy policy. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and we will tell you why unless doing so would prejudice an investigation.
12. Privacy
How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy policy, which forms part of these terms.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Where a change materially affects you we will give notice by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use StarOne after that means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes are subject to the courts of Ontario, without limiting any right you have to bring a claim in your own province of residence under applicable consumer protection law.
15. Contact
Questions about these terms go through our contact page or a support ticket from your account.
